What Is Hydro Jetting?
Hydro jetting is a process that plumbers use to clear moderate to severe clogs inside a plumbing pipes. Before we begin with the actual hydro jetting service, we typically perform a video inspection of the pipe. That way we can ensure that there is no breakage or crack that could become exacerbated during the process. Video inspection is also useful in determining the location and the cause of the clog. After we camera the line, we will proceed with placing a hydro jetting service. The hydro jetting entails inserting a high-pressure hose and nozzle into the blocked or backed up line to blast the clog away. These jets can spray at as high as 35,000 psi, which will break up grease, sludge, debris, and remove tree roots. The water then flushes the pieces away and cleans the inside of the pipe wall. The end result is the removal of the blockage and free flowing plumbing lines.
Is Hydro Jetting Safe?
Hydro jetting is a very safe means of clearing and cleaning drain pipes when used by a trained professional, such as the technicians here at the Drain Surgeon. Only clean water is used in hydro jetting which means that the method of cleaning eliminates the need for dangerous chemicals. And while the water is powerful, careful attention is paid to ensure there is not a large enough pressure build up to burst or otherwise damage pipes.
When Is Hydro Jetting Recommended?
Hydro jetting is often recommended when a plumbing snake is not adequate to clear a clog. The water from the jet not only destroys the clog but also washes away all of the pieces as well as any residue left inside the pipe. This can be very beneficial when tree roots have invaded a pipe. A snake only tears up the fibrous roots but does not clear all of the debris. Hydro jetting is also a great way to remove scale and other deposits from older drain pipes without causing the damage that can potentially occur when harsh chemicals are used to descale the pipes.
Clogged sewer lines are not a situation that should ever be ignored. The issue will only get worse over time and could eventually cause a great deal of damage inside your home when the pipe becomes completely blocked.
